What are the chances of twins?

Anyone have any clue of the chances of twins if :
My dad is a twin
Partners mum is a twin
My auntie and uncle are twins
My grandad's brothers are triplets
Just curious to what the chances are of me having twins in future.
I just had a son who obviously wasn't a twin, but is there higher chance of my next pregnancy being twins👭x

Twins are hereditary on the female side. So if twins run in your moms side of the family, your chances are higher. Your partners family history doesn't effect your chances at all. It's strictly from the female bloodline. We went over this a ton as twins run in my husbands family like crazy! Had lots of info from professionals and doctors while we were trying.

If multiple sperm enter an egg the embryo is no good and will either not result in a pregnancy or will end in miscarriage.  The only way twins occur are if the female releases more than one egg and both are fertilized.  These are fraternal twins.  The other way is for one sperm to penetrate one egg and the egg splits (there is no genetic link for this) and these are identical twins.  In my case I did IVF and implanted two embryos.  Both decided to get cozy and my twins are due in December!

Unfortunately, your aunt/uncle being a twins are the only factor that increases your chances of conceiving twins. Twins do not run along male lines; likelihood of twins increase only in females because females may carry a hereditary chance of releasing two eggs at once. There is still a chance that multiple sperm can enter the egg, however, but that is the same chance for anyone that conceives.

Twins usually skip a generation so if your parent was, and you werent then theres a good chance!
