When did you start your FMLA?

How early did you start your maternity leave or FMLA? I work in a hospital and I'm just about 37 weeks. I commute 2 hours daily and do 6 day stretches. It's getting SO difficult. I just don't know if I should start my leave early or not.

I'm working up until two days before my due date.  However, I work in an office, and my office is only 15 minutes from my house and the hospital. I think you should assess your situation (which is much different from mine) and do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

I'm an RN in a busy ED, and with my last baby I worked up until delivery. It wasn't too bad until those last 2 weeks. I did end up having to call off my last shift because d/t OB orders, and I had her a week later. That just happened to be my last scheduled shift that week and I had her before my next. I didn't want to have to go back early. 
This time around (baby #4) I'm also scheduled up until my delivery date, but I work PT so it's a little easier on my body. However this pregnancy has been much harder and I'm already dreading those last 8 weeks (and I'm only 17 weeks now!) I just took a night shift supervisor position too and I'm super nervous about going back to nights after a year of days!

I had my baby on a Saturday and started the following Monday. I wanted to be able to spend as much time as possible with my baby.

I'm going out the day before my due date as long as he doesn't come before then

Depends on how long you want home after baby comes. Can you leave early or have any vacation dsys,left?

This all depends on the nature of your job.  OP- It sounds like being taken work is hard for you.  Perhaps you might want to start your maternity leave a week or 2 before your due date?

I'm a office monkey and have the luxury of working from home.   I will be working remotely my last month and will work right up till I go into labor.   This way I have the full 13 weeks home with my LO.
