Anyone had a FWB?

Question

What are your thoughts on friends with benefits relationships or situations? Have you ever been in one? How did it end? Are you still friends?
I ask because I have one; we're very casual, but we text everyday (about stupid stuff) and neither of us are going out with or sleeping with other people. I feel like we're almost in a relationship since we're exclusive (although it's not like we agreed to that or anything) but I'm such a noncommittal person I'm not sure I want that but I don't want to lose him from my life should this end.

When I enter "no strings attached" "relationships" I make sure he and I are both aware of our boundaries.
We are not dating, we will not go on dates, he will not buy me things, I will not buy him things.
We aren't going to text all day or like all of each other IG posts, we're just casual friends who happen to hook up.
We won't meet up more than 4 times a week, and for no more than 3 months. We're temporary f*ck buddies, not long term.
If anyone starts developing feelings, it must be said, no one should get hurt when the other was just trying to have some fun.

I've had a few. As long as you keep your feelings in check and make SURE you're both on the same page with what you want, it can work out great. The only FWB relationship that didn't work out for me was the one where I was unaware it was a FWB relationship in the first place. But that was more than a miscommunication, he just didn't have the balls to tell me he only wanted sex. Instead he just kept saying we would be together "eventually" and it was just a bad situation. 
Establish what you're looking for, don't do anything you're uncomfortable with. If there's any sort of confusion as to where you stand with each other, like in your situation, I'd make sure you remind him of what it is exactly. Let him know you're not looking to be in a committed relationship whatsoever and you should be good!

I had a fwb, it works if it doesn't go on forever. we stopped sleeping together but now we're best friends. sex isn't off the table but now it's more random casual hookups every once in a while when we're both single

I've had a few of them before and I'm still friends with a few of them my boyfriend I'm with now started out like a friends with benefits but eventually that turned into love and it's kinda  rare (not really lol) your friends with benefits and you fall in love with each other

I'm currently in the same sort of situation. He's my best friend. But I value the friendship and I don't want to continue being noncommittal so the sexual part of our relationship is over.
