X Rays?

So I have to go to the dentist tomorrow and if I remember correctly I think I am due for some teeth x rays. Now being pregnant I don't think this is a good idea even with that stupid vest on you. Have any of you gone through X-rays while pregnant? Or just said no?

I went to the dentist last week for a check up and I went in and they asked if there was any change in my medical condition and I just said I was pregnant and she told me we will have to wait until after baby is born to do any x Ray's. If they don't ask you Make sure you tell them when you go in to see your dentist.

If it's just a routine check I would delay but if you are in pain that is different. I've had X-rays and a route canal done when I was prego with my second. They just layered 2 layers for the X-rays that were unavoidable.

My doctor said just ask for the lead apron! I got my teeth cleaned and x rayed today and it's fine. You'll want to know if you have cavities since pregnancy can jack up your teeth.

I work in xray.... Take xrays all day long..... Dental xrays are soooooo low dose..... I mean you get more radiation from a flight than from dental xrays..... I sometime have to take body xrays of pregnant patients and as long as its not stumach xrays and the doc knows its all good, and body xrays have much more radiation then dental.  We still put double lead aprons.   I sure would not be worried for dental xrays, i even had mine done while pregnant last pregnancy. The radiation beam is directed on your teeth and very little get diffusee to even make it to your belly, and with that apron nothing reaches your belly ;).  Dont stress..... But they wont do them if you say not to ;) its ultimately your call :)

My dentist won't do them unless it's absolutely necessary. So he'll just be notified at my cleaning, as I am due for some too.

I am a dental hygienist and I do not take x-rays on pregnant patients. If there is a tooth that is hurting you it is okay to do a single x-ray on it with a vest after the 1st trimester. Just make sure they know you are pregnant and if they try to take x-rays just kindly tell them you would like to wait until after the baby 😊

They should ask but if they don't just let them know. We just skipped the x Ray until the next visit
