Should i have to clean the house anf cook if im only 15 and have college amount of school work??

I have an older brother h
Who works as well as my dad my mother isnt in the picture so i took on the "wifely duties" but I'm findng it harder and harder to keep it up get good grades and keep my anxiety and depression under control

I am the oldest of four and did the same thing when my parents divorced. No high school student has the amount of work as a college student... Trust me. I was an honor student and took all the AP classes and it was maybe 1/3 of what I did in college. I also volunteered, was in clubs, and sports teams. You're going to have to do all the work by yourself when you move out. It's good work to learn to keep things tidy and manage time.

Yes and no. It's good to have those kinds of responsibilities at your age, but they should also do some of it as well.

I did exactly what you did when my parents separated. I was 16 and I felt like I had to take on the "wifely duties" since my mom moved out and my sister and I lived with my dad. It's not that bad. What are you going to do in the real world when you actually have to work for a living ON TOP of taking care of your family and house? Also, if you think high school work is too much, you better buck up because high school is like Kindergarten work compared to actual college.

I was forced to do that growing up and it only became worse as I got older and took on more responsibility at home and school. If you have a good relationship with your father you should talk to him and try to make him understand the stress it causes you. Find ways the three of you can all contribute. Working is in no way an excuse to not clean after yourself.

I find that different systems work for different families. You'll probably appreciate the skills and responsibility you were given and what yiu learned from it more when you're moved out but right now it does sound like a little much. School and self should probably be your first priority. Should be in my opinion.  Then the housework. For cleaning, a system that might work out is if everyone did their own personal dishes. For cooking by the sounds of it I feel like that will still land on you, (simply do to the fact that you're home) but if you cook maybe you can convince that someone else has to clean or vice versa. Talk to pops. Say that its a lot and you need help because you're finding it hard to balance everything and do well in school. See if something can be changed/compromised, or try asking your brother directly if he can help. (Maybe say if he doesn't chop vegetables then he doesn't have to eat supper)
