Walking Shoes - Any suggestions?

My MIL and Mom keep bugging me about getting my baby girl walking shoes. Are walking shoes a "old school" requirement? Or should I get baby girl walking shoes? She seems to do fine in her sandals (examples in pictures). But I don't want to think so and she ends up twisting her ankle. Any suggestions are helpful!

I just ordered a pair of stride rite shoes. She's been in Robeez this whole time and fully walking since 9 months. I've take her to the park in them every day. But it's time for real shoes for her. Hopefully she doesn't outgrow them in a week!

My MIL pushed walking shoes as well. We never got them for our son and he didn't have any issues. My daughter we can't get shoes on her period partially because we can't find any that really fit her.
