Root canal

I'm almost 28 weeks & I've had a horrible toothache for about a weeks, went and saw a dentist today and I need a root canal, he said it was my decision weather to wait or not. I obviously have 12 weeks left. Idk what to do. I'm COMPLETLEY nervous about having a root canal while pregnant, I'm so scared of something happening to my baby boy. Has anyone had one? I don't care about the pain afterward I just want to make sure it's safe. I will have an appointment and talk with my OB but I was just wondering if anyone has had one, at or around 28 weeks.
