When's the best time to start visiting a gynecologist?

I'm 19, I've not have sex of any kind, and my health is pretty good. Though I might not need it, I feel like I should have visited before now. When was your first visit and why?

I went at 16, but I was getting an IUD. It's not bad. It's a bit awkward at first. So just go when you are ready. And of course, once sexually active, then it would be in your best interest to go.

You go when you feel like you need to. I'm a virgin as well but the first time I went was for stomach pain at 18. They wanted to rule out any gastro and reproductive issues since it was around the same area. I go on base and they usually recommend a pelvic after becoming sexually active or turning 21.

My sister is 21 and has never been sexually active. She went a month ago and they said she doesn't need a Pap smear until she's sexually active. She just got married last weekend so she's going to get a pap next year. So you don't really need to go unless your sexually active or something is wrong. But They reccomend going once your 21 (I'm in Florida) .

I started going at 15 but that was due to irregular periods. I lost my virginty at 19 to the man I'm married to now so when I got off of bc at 19, since my period was regular I didn't go back until I started having sex.

It's recommended that You don't have to go anymore until you're sexually active.. But some women go before then.. There's not a set age really. If you're having abnormal pain/discomfort or discharge then definitely make an appt but if not then make one after you've become sexually active. I've been going for years and I'm 21, just recently lost my virginity, I first went at 14 but I also have severe endometrios and need to go more often than most.
