Cereal in bottle?

Question

So my son who's almost 6 weeks old is ALWAYS hungry (breast fed baby) Growth spurt or not I can't put him down at night aka literally zero sleep for me 😞 multiple people have suggested I put a very small amount of baby cereal in his bottle right before bed to see if that helps. I have done my research and have conflicting thoughts on doing this. Please voice your opinions and experiences!

As a mom who is currently breastfeed her 3rd baby, this is normal, growth spurts suck and some last longer then other. Keeping baby on breast is the best way to increase your supply to meet their needs. Have you considered bed sharing? I would never encourage a mom to put cereal in a bottle of Bm or formula, if you honestly think your not producing enough milk, supplementing with formula is a much healthier and safer alternative to cereal. Babies don't digest grains until they are much much older, it is also a choking hazard for baby, with no nutrional value since they can't properly break it down.

At 2 weeks old my Doctor added cereal to my daughter's diet in 2000.Helped a lot without it she was so hungry.Got a cereal bottle for the new baby just in case.I go by baby to doctor cues

Ive been in your situation before.. My baby feeds longer time, wakes up whenever we put her in the bed and most of the time she wanted to be held.. Ive asked some tips from my cousin and talked about it to her pedia.. It worked to us, it just it took some time , effort and patience :) Hope this will work for you

-i feed my baby every 2 hrs .. i base the interval from the time i started feeding her 
-when its bed time, we made sure everything is kinda dark for her but its enough for you to see her (it will help her think that when its already dark it means bed time 😆).  and just dont talk to her anymore if youre trying to put her to sleep.. 
-The same thing in the morning, i usually open the curtain once she's awake and let her look outside the window, it did help her bodyclock 
-everytime she fell asleep in my arms, i put her down to bed making sure its not past 15mins .. i was told 15mins of sleep is like a power nap to
them so try i tried my very best to not hold her more than 15mins while shes sleeping just to avoid waking her up lol  and if she wakes up while putting her down, i just give her my boobs right away and let her have it til she goes back to sleep :)

we were able to put her on schedule repeating the same routine till she got used to it.. She manage to sleep throughout the night exactly when she turned 2months old .. johnson bedtime body wash worked too :) it did work for us .. hope

My daughter takes oatmeal cereal in her BM bottle which is her night bottle, I was putting rice cereal but I heard the oatmeal was healthier. I started her at 4 weeks. She has really bad reflux so I had to pick my battles. Doc made the suggestion and baby is MUCH HAPPIER and sleeping great at night

I was told just enough baby rice to cover the top of the milk. Helps them sleep longer. Everyone in my family has done it. Even as early as 2 weeks old. We're all fine. My grandma use to have rice in her milk since day one. It's fine.

You Should try giving him some formula at night.. My baby is breast fed too and I supplement with formula because there are times when she wont stop eating so I give her some formula and it calms her hungerand  sleeps well.

When my son went through this I made a larger bottle of pumped breast milk along with formula I'm a bottle and gave that to him. He slept great!

That's not something I would do with my son personally since you and/or formula is already providing the iron they need and they don't need any extra iron until 6 months.  I can understand that baby is wanting to eat a lot and no one is getting the sleep they need because of this but I agree with some other responses here...give baby formula!! Formula lasts longer in their system so they don't need It as often as BM.  Gerber supplemental formula is great for this reason! (That or if your drank too much lol).  Cereal in the bottle is another topic that some moms do, but from the moms I've talked with didn't do it tell 4 months at the earliest.  In the end, this is your baby and you can decide, I'm just sharing what I know and my story.
