Pacifiers when breastfeeding ?

Question

I'm 30 weeks with my first and I plan on breast feeding. My question is, what's your experience with using pacifiers when breastfeeding?
I know some babies don't take them at all (I didn't) and some can't get through a day without one. Does giving a baby a pacifier when BF cause issues? Or does it have no effect?
 I just wonder because my aunt is asking about little things I want for baby shower gifts and I don't know whether to say yes or no to wubbies (my family's word for the pacifiers).

According to mynlactation consultant when breastfeeding it is best to hold off on any other form of nipple intro until baby is about 6 weeks.  This gives them time to master the breast so to speak because just like we're learning, baby is learning as he nurses also.

Baby got a paci at 1 day old. We have no problems breast feeding. She can spit that binkie out so far when she really wants food not just to suckle. Do what you want momma!!

It can cause nipple confusion which is why they say you should wait a few weeks before introducing one. Neither of my boys would take one.

My son was handed to me with a paci already in his mouth, and I wasn't able to attempt breastfeeding until the next day because of the medication I was given from my c section. He latched on perfectly, no problem the first time I attempted to feed him. He loved his pacifier, didn't leave it till he was 2. I breastfed him for 8 months.
