FTM Birth Tips?

Question

Any first time mums have any birth advice/tips to give? I'm the last of my 4 sisters to have a baby (my mum had 5 girls) I'm a little nervous when I think about giving birth but as long as me and my baby come out ok at the other end I don't care what happens.

Stay as relaxed as possible. I can't tell you how much it helps to not fight your body. It goes much faster if you just relax, try not to tense up and just keep your head on straight...focus.. Easier said than done for some but, I managed and plan to do it the same way again. Every contraction I had I reminded myself it was one less I had to do.

Did you know that even paralyzed women can deliver babies normally through their vaginas? Even if you do nothing, baby will still come out. Your body knows what to do. Giving birth is basically just getting out of the way while your body does its job. Also, don't lie down! Move around. The worst five minutes of my labor were the five where we tried having me sit in bed for my twenty minutes of monitoring. At five minutes I insisted on standing next to the bed instead and that was much much better. And when you're crowning, slow down. Don't rush it.
