Friends with Ex

After a 5 year long distance relationship with my ex, we finally decided to pull the plug! Half the relationship was just torture. We both cheated on each other multiple times, and our fights were monumental. We even got physical a couple times. We  were horrible in a relationship, but prior we were friends for almost ten years. Now, I am in a loving "normal" relationship with the man of my dreams. My ex, is now going though a similar cycle with another girl. We are now civil and we keep in touch. In fact, I mostly give him relationship advice. I am not hiding this from my current boyfriend, he is also aware of our bad past. Should I continue to talk to my ex?
