Sleep

Is it normal for my baby to be awake for 5-6 hours at a time? He is only 1 month 3 days old. He usually only stays awake like this at night and after sleeping for about 3 hours...he does get alot of sleep during the day but no matter what I try at night he stays wide awake. I make sure he's fed changed and keep the lights off..he doesn't even cry hardly just stays awake looking around. I've read that babies his age should only stay awake for an hr and a half at anytime.
