Wtf?!

Question

I'm taking my glucose test today and I drank that sugar drink like I'm supposed to but now I'm so tired I can hardly keep my eyes open. Who would have thought drinking almost pure sugar would make a person tired.

My OBGYN asked when I would like to do my sugar test and I laughed at her. She was like what is the problem? Um if you look in my chart is says type 1 diabetic... Obviously I will fail, I can't be anymore diabetic then I already am! Lol I hope it goes well for you. Too much sugar makes me incredibly tired. Don't worry too much!

I took it and about 20 minutes in I laid down on the lab floor and took a nap, then after I was done I went grocrey shopping and almost passed out cause my sugar dropped so fast. I passed my test with flying colors.

It's because your body is working so hard to process it. So it doesn't mean you failed. If you would of ate some protein after they took your blood it may have helped but I was still tired.

You may have a bad result on the test then. Doesn't sound like your body is processing all the glucose properly.

It's just a sugar crash. It doesn't mean you will fail the test. You take in so much during the test that your insulin goes into overdrive trying to deal with it. Ever notice after kids have a lot of sugar and are hyper, they crash after and are cranky and tired? Lol. If you were gonna fail the test, you'd likely have a reaction during the test. I'm not diabetic but I am slightly hypoglycaemic and I did a glucose test years ago at my MD's office. Totally had an episode immediately following the test. Sweating, heart racing, hyperventilating, felt like fainting, then got really cold after.
