Abandoned supervised visits?

**RANT** My three year old son's father used to be a decent dad. Enough to where I didn't even ask for child support and allowed us to spilt visitations completely in half. I trusted him. However he did some pretty horrible things middle of the year last year while with his ex,  to the extent I had to get an attorney and take him to court for an emergency hearing to even see my child after almost 3 months. I was so heart broken and destroyed. I lost all trust with him. After the court date he still wouldn't allow me to have him back. He used our child as a game. I waited almost a month for this judge to make her order. Literally a few days before this judge made her order he called me and said he was so sorry and broke up with his ex (his other child's mother) and how I was right about abuse going on amongst other things and how he should have known, blah blah blah. I forgave him, held my tongue and was very civil. The next couple days the judge makes her order, and only allows him to receive supervised visitations twice a week and a facility of his choice. This was October over last year. He has make 0 visitations with our child and I feel very heart broken for him. I'm becoming lost on what to do anymore. I never thought he could become this kind of monster. My son will occasionally ask to see him when we're in town by his old house, but all I am able to say is one day. He now is about to have his third child by a third woman and yet he can't even father up and put his own pride away to see his first child? I'm afraid he's going to bounce in and out of my child's life, or he's going to be so careless he's just going to end up loosing his rights... Anyone been in a similar situation? How did you help your child cope?
