Vomiting an entire feeding?

Question

Last night, my 8 day old vomitted I'm guessing 4oz at least. My milk supply has seemed to skyrocket lately as he's been eating for shorter amounts of time because I don't think he has to work as hard for it. I just don't know how much he's eating.

Is this from over feeding? I'm a FTM and it really freaked me out.

It all came out of him exorcist style in probably 1 second. Not a slow stream of throw up. Don't know if that makes a difference.

It's normal. Unless there less wet and poopy diapers then he is fine. In the beginning its hard for them to keep all their food down. I ask the pediatrician every time I go in and she always explains it to us so that were not as worried lol. Just make sure you burp him and the closer you get to 6 months the less it'll happen. Mine throws up and spits up a lot but he's still gaining weight and it happy. If any of those things aren't happening then call your doctor but if not they're just gonna tell you the same thing

Same situation when mine was 2 weeks. Reflux. She's on medication now and she doesn't projectile vomit anymore

If it keeps happening let the doc know. Same thing was happening to my son. He was still having enough wet diapers and pooping a lot but he ended up having acid reflux and a milk allergy. Another thing to look for is mucus in their poop. I didn't know what it looked like so we googled it (super gross). Took a sample to doc and they tested it and it was positive.

My daughter had wet diapers and projectiled all her milk every time she ate. Everyone including her doctors said its normal that it's just hard on their tummys! At 3 months I took her to the hospital because she started bleeding outta her butt. It's because she had a milk allergy!!!! Spit up is normal, projeciling all the milk up is not! Please don't let this happen to your baby and ask your doctor to test them for a milk allergy

So long as he has wet diapers, like miss Veronica said, you should be fine.  Once that milk is in their stomach it's actually more liquidity coming up.  Learned this from the pediatrician as I had the same problem.  Thought my LO was not keeping his milk down when he threw up, it was like how adult throw up-it was a lot lol but in reality I guess it's not that much they throw up.  My son also had reflux and he would spit some up too.

They do this sometimes. As long as baby is wetting 6-8 diapers and pooping regularly all is likely ok. If it's happening all the time there may be an issue but here and there it's ok. It is possible baby overate and that's why but they learn to regulate better as they get older. It's a learning experience for all lol. Even ur boobs as they r likely over-producing at this stage and ur body figures out just how much milk ur babe needs and if u had more than 1 :-)
