Are you guys for or against taking away their reproductive organs for "medical reasons"

Coming for a Vet Tech there are more benefits to spaying and neutering then not. It reduces the risk of mammary, testiclar, and prostate cancer. It keeps females from getting a pyometra (a serious infection of the uterus which is life threatening). It also will reduce the urge to roam. We really don't need more dogs and cats ending up in shelters/pounds. They are not emotionally attached to there reproductive organs.

It's recommended by veterinarians that you spay or Neuter your animals if you have no plans to breed them.

I lost a dog when she got sick from a stray coming in and "breeding" with her. Spaying/neutering keeps the animals tamer/less aggressive since they aren't so territorial or easily excited (seriously, compare stallions to geldings). As well, it lowers the stray population that's already out of proportion in many places. It also keeps you from getting surprise litters if an "unfixed" stray pops in.

I have a dog and I wouldn't get him sorted. I don't really find it fair on the animal. But then again I wouldn't breed him just to sell his pups. X

Why wouldn't you? Just curious about that side. I'm for it, but I want to know why someone would be against it. Technically, we as humans, can have ourselves 'fixed' if we keep having kids, or don't ever want kids. Soooooo, I'm not understanding the whole other side.

Imagine how many more stray cats and dogs we'd have running around if no one spayed or neutered their animals!!
 I think it really is irresponsible not to get it done unless of course you are looking to be a breeder.
