Is it harder for vegans to get pregnant?

A friend of mine is strictly vegan and has had at least 3 miscarriages. I was just wondering if it was because she was vegan and wasn't getting all the vitamins she required.

There's more protein in certain veggies than meat people!!!! I am vegan as are a lot of my friends and it's a non issue

No. Begin a vegetarian/vegan should not effect fertility. The main reason a doctor would ask,"are you vegan" is so they can correctly determine the necessary amount of supplements to give you (I.e higher levels of B12) pregnant non-meat eaters just have to work a little harder at maintaining a healthy lifestyle for themselves and the baby. :) hoped that helped.

I've never been pregnant but! I am vegan :) and a science major so I understand the lifestyle. However if your still concerned then please bring it up with your doctor

I think there's definitely a good possibility there's a connection with fertility/healthy pregnancy and diet. In fact there has to be a connection. There's no way to know if that's your friends case though. I'm sure there are plenty of vegans who have very healthy pregnancies but they have to be so much more diligent about getting all their vitamins and nutrients and especially protein because it is so much more difficult with such a limited diet.

I got pregnant straight away when I was vegan. All my bloods came back excellent and my overall health was good. If you're eating the right foods then vegan/vegetarian is very healthy ☺️

This is not true. Before getting pregnant I was vegan. And got pregnant. I decided to eat cheese and eggs because those were 2 things that didn't make me want to puke. Anyways, I would have lived to have been vegan for my whole pregnancy. Fruits and vegetables have so many nutrients in then, so of beans and nuts. What vitamins do you think she was missing? Vegans get most of their vitamins from food, unlike meat eaters who eat fresh fresh fruits and veggies rarely. If you eat balanced, regardless of animal product intake, then you are getting what your body needs. Women who have miscarriages have them for various reasons but I doubt, in this circumstance that it's because of a plant based diet.

When I talked to my doctor about diet, she said "you're not vegan, are you?"

She wanted to make sure I was getting plenty of protein and said it's harder for vegans. But that's just one opinion, and I sure know plenty of healthy vegans with beautiful  babies!
