Paragard Missing String?!

Okay, so like. I was checking my strings a couple weeks ago and 1 of them was there good as spanking new but the other one it took me forever to find.

Once I finally found it, it was just a stub that was barely hanging out of my cervix. I set up an appointment to get it checked out but then the doctor called out sick. I never passed the string and I haven't a clue where the rest of it could be.

My cramps are getting worse since the string slipped away to the point I'm doubled over on a toilet with a trashcan in my lap.

Does anyone have a clue where the string may have gone or what's made my cramps so bad out of nowhere? I've almost had the Paragaurd IUD for a year now, I've never had cramps this bad before. I'm also a couple days late on my period but have never had sex where my partner came inside. My new appointment isn't until September 29th, should I try to go elsewhere if it's something serious?
