Autism?

How can you tell if you have a baby that just has a serious personality, or off your baby has autism? I have always been worried about my baby having autism. He is 4 months old and so serious. He smiles sometimes, and babbles sometimes, but when he around more people he is so serious and does not smile or interact with other people who try to get him to smile

I would wait to diagnose your baby with something like that.... It's still kinda hard to tell what your baby is gonna be like when he's older... I'll just wait to see.

I'm sure you can schedule an appointment for the baby. They say if you ever feel like something may be different to make an appointment. It'll ease your mind anyways. It could be nothing, and it could be something. Just remember to love your baby ❤️

Eye contact is a big one. Avoiding, not holding for very long. Its still early to be able to tell however. Make a doc visit if it still really bothers you. Good luck :)

At this stage it is way too early to diagnose Autism. It is a social communication disorder, and at this early stage you just can't tell. Keep an eye on his developmental milestones (especially language/communication) and if you continue to have concerns then definitely follow it up with your paediatrician. 
Here in Australia we have maternal and child health nurses who babies and toddlers see frequently (vaccines, weighing etc) and they often keep an eye on those early warning signs. Not sure if you have something similar where you are?
I'm a psychologist who is involved in diagnosis and usually the earliest I see kids is 18 months-2 years.

Kids are usually diagnosed at around 18 months, it's more to do with Behavioural things like not looking at a person when being spoken to, walking on tippy toes, lining toys up in a specific way, getting right down low on the floor to play with them (like head down at toy level), delay in speech & issues with food.

My bro was diagnosed at about 18 months and this was nearly 15 years ago. Information and research has come a long way since then. So hold off before getting too worried bubs develop at their own rate.

They wont test til 18months. And yes while it does sound like autism it could just be that your baby is a serious baby or plotting world dominationXD

It's a baby. Babies don't like new faces a lot of the time and don't like loud noises. 
As someone who has an autistic 3yr old on her family. Quit trying to find something with your child. My beautiful nephew is very delayed and doesn't speak. He never babbled. He hides under tables do to to much stimulation. 
Most places won't see a child before the age of 5 or diagnose them with such a serious label. 
If you are worried read up on signs of autism and give your child time to even become a show their personality.
