Epidural or no epidural ?

Question

So I've been thinking alot about this whole epidural thing. Part of me just doesn't want to take it, I've heard after the use of an epidural ,you start to expirience back pains  later in life and it's right now me being pregnant I can't stand the back pain. Also just worried about the whole needle process and the complications it could bring. But I'm just also way to scared I won't be able to handle the labor pain. What are ya thoughts mommies ? Who took an epidural? Who didn't? Share your stories, Opinions ,I am all ears😆❣

Take the pain as long as you can... & if it gets too much ask for the epidural
I tried to go without medication with my son I took it for a few hours then I say "F" it I need some meds... I have 3 children & got it each time pregnant with baby #4 & plan on getting it again... Everyone's body is different. Make your own decision once your in labor. Good Luck Sweetie!!

Well, in order to not get the epidural you need to stay at home with the pain as much possible. I don't want to get the epidural because one of my friends got it & stayed numb on her left side for a whole year 😳😱 I rather take the pain that will only last some hours than to have consequences like my friend did.

I had my first delivery with an epidural it was a breeze so easy and I felt nothing .. I could enjoy what was happening 
Second time no epidural and I was shaking from the pain screaming crying I felt like I was going to die. I was still shaking and crying after the delivery I couldn't enjoy my baby I was tramatized. 
I am now petrified of having another due to the pain ... Recover was the same with and without epidural I would highly recommend epidural. Also if you need to get stitches without an epidural - well I couldn't even imagine the pain 
Both babies were 8.5 pounds and 21 inches long

I too was petrified of it but haven't had any real negative effects, my Kegals were a bit weak due to the catheter but it wouldn't stop be from doing it again this time around.

I've had some back pain, but no more than I had before having my son 3.5 years ago. I have giant boobies which has never helped and play sports which also doesn't help & have bad posture since breaking my elbow, collar bone & dislocating my shoulder 16 years ago

I will be going natural with no epidural, due to my needle phobia. However my sister in law is currently undergoing testing for nerve damage caused by the epidural during her daughters birth. She's having a few internal issues as well as memory deterioration. I mentioned her daughters name the other day, and she said 'who's that?' Scary stuff!

This is my fourth and I've never had an epidural but this time I'm getting one for sure! I didn't get one in the past because you could only get one if you were there between 9am and 4pm and I of course went in at 9pm. This time I'm being induced and they made sure that it was in the procedure plan for the day. My first two were unmedicated and my last I had Demerol, Gravol and the laughing gas and although I didn't feel much of the labour, I was so stoned I don't remember it and my baby was in an incubator for hours because of the drugs. Plus they take away the gas when you push and you feel everything (so again going from 0 to 100) and it's all that horrible burning sensation of crowning (I swear that's worse than contractions). This time I want to enjoy the experience and my baby once she's out.

I had an epidural with my first and I am doing it again this time. Why go through crazy amounts of pain when you can have an epi and not harm the baby. That's my opinion

I didn't notice needle going in at all and I have not suffered any back pain that was Sept last year and I'm 23 weeks with number two (still no back pain ) who knows do what's best for you I had an open mind going in in fact I made it to 7 cm and suprised the mid wife by asking for the epi it was a rush

If u already have back pain which no one on here seems to have went through prior to epidural lol...I'd say why push and make it worse.....I also have back pain and yes it makes me afraid to use an epidural I know people who have suffered from this having back pain before epidural and it has worse risks then that . Are u doin kegels?!

I'm hoping to go without one. The best advice I've found is that contractions usually last from 60-90 seconds and that we can do anything for 60-90 seconds if we put our mind to it. I already have had back problems even before getting pregnant so I'm terrified of the epidural. But I'm also a ftm so I haven't experienced labor yet!
