Can you not ovulate and still have a period?

Just wondering can you have a normal period and just not ovulate?

Yes as i conceived the second day before my period finished which i didnt think possible on a regular 28 day cycle. Learnt one thing by it and thats don't go by what the internet states when it comes to ovulation as mine was way off!! Test from day one of your period to day one of the next period twice a day and when you get darkening lines test 6hourly to avoid missing the surge. If ttc opks only pick up the surge not when the actual egg is released and its a mistake i made for many years. Keep bed dancing at least for a week after it goes back negative. Ttc was exhausting but we bed danced one month morning and night each day including when on period except the two heavy first days i have sprry for the tmi but thought it might help some of you ladies ttc. I conceived that one month i did this. Good luck to all and baby dust

Yes. Its an anovulatory bleed. Or known as a breakthrough bleed.

Yes that's why they will do blood tests to make sure you are ovulating if you are having trouble TTC

I believe so. The lining of your uterus could still build up like its supposed to and it sloughs off (period) only when a healthy egg has not implanted. So if you're not ovulating/releasing eggs, the lining would still have to shed.

Ovulation and your period don't necessarily go hand in hand. You can definitely have a period (the shedding of your uterine lining) and not have ovulated. But there's no way of knowing you're not ovulating unless you go to the doctor. Medication like Clomid can be prescribed to help make sure you're ovulating each month.
