Effaced but not dilated?

What does it mean if I'm 20% effaced but not dilated 35+5.? Or has anyone gone through this? And can give me there expirence

Efaced Is how stretched out your cervix is. Dilated is when your cervix is opening. So you're stretching, just not opening yet.

I have been thinned for 2 weeks and currently 5 centimeters but no contractions...

Just got checked today. I'm also 50% effaced and not dilated. I hope once it's time, dilation will be easy peasy. Ha, who am I kidding?

I'm 80% effaced but not dilated. Dr said it should make dilation easier and that it's common for ftm.

50% effaced at 36 weeks and not dilated (get checked later this week at 38).
Basically means you're thinned out but cervix isn't open

I've been 50% effaced since week 31. I'm 35 and 2 days now and still haven't given birth.
