Germany's push to ban face veils...what are your thoughts?

Is it okay to ban face veils and would you be okay with this occurring in the US? If so explain how this sort of law adheres to the Us constitutional rights of freedom of religion.

I understand the push for this. Facial identification is important.

I don't want the government to have a say in what I wear so I can't support a law that restricts what anyone else wears - whether it's a religious thing or not. I think it is fair to say that a veil must be lifted for identification purposes when accessing some services and passing through security checks etc, but think there should be provisions for this to be done with female staff and out of view of the public if that's what the individual wearing the veil wishes.

I understand identification in public is important, and it is in the publics best interest, so I agree with where they're coming from. It's their country and if they feel it's best to make this a law then that's their decision, if all countries felt like doing this then that would be their choice and I'd support they put the countries safety first.

As a Muslim who doesn't wear a face veil I guess my opinion could be a bit biased. I do understand where they are coming from but at the same time I believe anyone, from any religion should be able to wear what they like. 
I chose not to wear a veil but I have some family that do wear veils 
In Australia they are trying to ban it as well I understand they are trying to make the country safer but I'm really torn in this.

We need to respect each other's religion, and culture. I can understand at airports and major security areas having a female guard take a veiled women behind closed doors to correctly ID. Im a US veteran, and I think this is bs.

I agree with this 100%. With the level of terror these countries are facing, yes, facial identification is absolutely necessary.

This is not a religious garment. The Quran never says a woman should bar her face in public. The only thing that *should* be covered is the neck, chest, and hair (and other body parts). So I don't think this is religious discrimination.

Absolutely ridiculous. This is your religious right. people don't understand why this is so upsetting. If it was happening to a Christian religion, people would be extremely upset.
