State vs Federal FMLA - Attorneys please help!!!
CT allows for up to 16 weeks maternity leave, but my sister's job (she works for a town) is telling her they go by federal, which as we all know is only 12 weeks. She kept asking for a meeting to figure this out, they told her she didn't need one, and now that she's 6 days from her due date they sprung this on her.
My question is, can they force her to come back before the 12 weeks or does the CT statute protect her for the remaining 4 weeks? (Actually for her personally she has enough PTO for 13 weeks so all she wants is 3 weeks unpaid. They are being really unfair and it's breaking my heart for her.)
