Very irregular periods

I'm trying to conceive my first child but I have noticed that my periods have been really irregular. My period will come one month then skip 3 months,come again skip the next month and then come on the month after that. This of course makes tracking when I'm most fertile very difficult. Any advise? I need help! I feel helpless and wonder if I can even get pregnant.
