How long would you wait?

I waited 5 years to have baby #2.  She just turned a month on the 21st. Me and DF want to have more children and want them more closer together since we waited so long with our first and now are in a rush for everything. I don't know how long to wait.

One of our nurses at the hospital said to try right away after the six weeks if we want since it will probably still take me a little while to get pregnant while another said a year to a year and a half which I feel is too long since we still want to more children and rather get the buying baby stuff etc. Over with so over time we can save up for our dream home, wedding, car, college savings for kids, car savings, wedding savings lol etc.

My first 2 are 11 months apart. No my second son will be 2 when we have baby #3 I'm so happy how close in age they are.

My two are 17 months apart with my youngest 12 weeks. We are waiting awhile for number 3.

There's some medical evidence that waiting at least 18 months between pregnancies is the safest. Any closer than that, and your risk of miscarriage/stillbirth, preeclampsia, all kinds of bad stuff starts going up. This is because your body goes through a lot when you're pregnant and it takes time to recover.

That said, plenty of people have 2 under 2 or 3 under 3 with no problems. You don't mention how old you are. If you're under 35, I would suggest waiting a year or so before ttc, or at least talk to your OB about it. The physical demands of pregnancy are no joke. You may feel normal again, but the nutrients, hormones, ligaments, muscles, everything in your body has gone through a lot of radical changes and you want to make sure you've recovered what you need to handle another pregnancy safely.

If you're older than 35, then it's a trickier question. Your risks due to age start creeping upwards the longer you wait. I'm in that boat. I had my first at 36. It took 8 months and 1 miscarriage to conceive her, so I don't necessarily want to wait too long before ttc. I'll probably still wait close to a year, though, unless we both get baby fever before that, or I have reason to think my fertility is really declining.

Anyway, it's probably best to talk to your OB. She'll have a better idea of how well your body has recovered from pregnancy. You just want to make sure any future pregnancy has the best chance at success you can give it.

I just had my first 2 13 months apart, and I'll be 32 next month. I told my husband if he wants 4 kids we'll have to start again next summer and have 2 back to back again. If he only wants 3 we can try again next summer or the following. I don't want to be having kids past my mid 30's, and we're always shooting for May/June babies since I'm a teacher and want to use the summer for maternity. My suggestion is don't start trying until you're positive you want a baby 9-10 months later. Because if you say you're going to start trying now because you really want to be pregnant in like 6 months, you'll probably get pregnant now haha.

Well my first I delivered at 21 weeks and we lost him to a neural tube defect called anencephaly.  It was 2 months later we found out we were pregnant with our second. Emotions were an all time high. Now we have a  17 month old  running around and this baby is due a month after he turns 2! I've already noticed I'm twice as tired than I was pregnant with no kid to chase lol. It's just every day we talk to him about baby and remind him no matter what he's is still our baby also.he seems to be happy about a baby lol. I'm sure it will be hard adjusting at first but we will manage ❤
