I'm pretty sure I have mastitis. It started off as just a clogged duct about a week and a half ago. I tried clearing it on my own through wet heat, intense massage, and lots of pumping and nursing on that side (including having her chin point toward the lump and using the dangle method). Nothing worked. In the last two days it has taken over half of my breast in the form of a huge, angry red lump with an almost greenish hue in the center. I have a postpartum appointment in three days and after calling my doctor today about my breast, they didn't seem too concerned about seeing me early. Can anyone tell me if this looks serious enough to need to go to the ER? I'm not feverish but it's quite painful and looks pretty scary. Any tips/stories from other moms who have been through something similar?
