I need help!

Okay so I didn't have a period at all for the month of July ... I was waiting to take a test because sometimes my period is a little late.... It is now August 24 & today I began getting a sharp pain in my right pelvic area when I stretched or coughed... Went to the bathroom and began having brownish spotting ... What could this be????

I know it could just be my period starting but it never hurts like this did... Opinions?
