Bizarre period or implantation bleed?!

We've been TTC for about a month... I was due on my period around now but I've been having sickness, cramps etc, and two days ago started having purely black discharge.

There was no red at all, just dark brown and black, which is weird because I NEVER spot before AF, and only ever ever have the darker stuff towards the end of it. But it's been 3 days now of dark brown/black discharge, no red at all, and it's pretty light so I've only needed liners.

Is it just a very abnormal period or should I test again?! I tested two days ago and it was negative.
