Moms advice please ?!

My son is two wks old an his umbilical cord nub is still on , it's been smelling the last wk doesn't stay dry no matter what I do :( and today it's pink around the top like the nub is irritating his belly button ?? Anyone else having this problem ? Have an appointment tom but worried mommy here my first didn't have this issue

My son's looked the exact same. My pediatrician said to rotate it (the dried part) so the skin underneath can get better air flow which would help it dry out and fall off quicker. She did take some alcohol swabs to it to help as well.

If it smells bad or is slimy it may be infected. Don't bathe him and make sure his diaper isn't covering it. Ask the doc tomorrow to make sure it's not infected. My baby is also two weeks and the "main" piece fell off but she still has a stump of dried blood that's there and it kind of bleeds on and off if I put her in a baby carrier or if it gets wet. I'm trying not to wet it and she still gets just sponge baths every few days.

Just wait and see what the Dr says. I took my dd in when she was 4 days old cuz hers smelt funny and kept bleeding ecessivley. I thought it was infected. It wasn't. Just was being irritated.
