I want to dye my hair a blonde or light brown but it's currently black. Any advice on getting it to blonde?

**PLEASE READ** BECUASE I KNOW THE COMMENTS ARE COMING! I know a salon would be best, But I simply cannot afford that. And no, even if i mess this up, I will STILL not be able to afford to fix it. I could do without the sarcastic and side comments - not everyone who is looking for a change has money to spend on it. I have extra money every now and then and I just want to treat myself. I have a lot of experience cutting and dying my hair at home becuase I've never had the money. I'm aware of the maintenance. I am aware of the roots. I've had platinum hair before, I received a lot of compliments on it and I didn't mind roots in between maintenance. I'm just looking for tips i may not know! Like what your favorite dye/bleach brand is, hacks, etc. Hair stylists go to years of schooling and hours of residency (not sure if that's the right term, nursing student here! Haha) and I appreciate what they do, but i can't afford them! :) thanks in advance!
