Natural Delivery or C Section?

I keep going back and fourth between having a C section and a natural delivery. I was so set on a C section and now researching it I'm kind of scared I thought it would the safer route but I'm not so sure anymore. This would be my first child, I wanna have about 2 more. My doctor said the decision is ultimately up to me. She said since I have a small pelvis I may have to have a C section but it is my body and its my choice. Help!

Well, I don't know any physicians who will grant a cesarean section request without medical reasoning, especially in a first time Mom. And please know that I'm coming at this from the angle of someone who desperately wanted one with my first. And my doctor wouldn't budge. In the end, after 34 hours of labor and a few hours of pushing, I needed an emergency cesarean with my first, and I have since had two more. While I had good experiences with my repeat sections, I still wish that first labor wouldn't have ended in a section. I was advised with my last baby that I shouldn't probably have anymore due to the amount of scar tissue I have and the increase in risks. Well, here I am, pregnant with number 4 and feeling sad and frustrated that the decision to have another child has basically been stolen from me, because of the previous methods of delivery. My husband is terrified of the fourth section and there's no way he would consider a 5th.  It's an issue I wouldn't have to confront if I had had vaginal deliveries. We have a family friend who passed away during a 4th cesarean a few years ago due to severe placenta percreta where the placenta grew through the scar and attached other abdominal organs. It was horrific. There are so many future risks to consider that I would never recommend an elective cesarean without medical reasons, even though I've had good experiences with mine.

If you want to have more I'd try for a natural birth. It gets harder with each csection and they cause complications in pregnancy sometimes.

Are you high risk? Usually you don't get to choose and once you have a c section there are a lot of doctors that still don't like to perform vbac, which means unless you find a supportive one all of your births will be c section! And each c section you have will be harder or your body and a new pregnancy! It's a major surgery and I would avoid it if you don't need it! I had to have one so I'm not in any way trying to be funny or mean! I was lucky to be able to find a vbac supportive doctor that's going to allow me to try naturally with this pregnancy and I'm so happy!

My first 2 were natural and it was the most amazing experience. My last pregnancy I had to have an emergency c section at 25 weeks due to complications and the recovery was HORRIBLE I thought I would never be able to work out again or wear jeans. This time I have to have a c section, although I am not thrilled about it I know it's what's best for me and my baby but if I could I would totally go vaginal delivery

If u can do natural I would. I tried natural with my first and ended up having to do a emergency c section. So now I'm 7 months pregnant and I have to do a scheduled c section. I mean I can do a vaginal but I would have to fly to a different island when I hit 36wks until I give birth. With a c section it's never the easy way out or safer. The healing process is longer and u are restricted from doing a lot of things. U don't have that bond right after the baby comes out like the skin to skin because they have to sew u up. I just remember seeing my daughter for 2 seconds and they took her for get cleaned. Then u have to go recovery and not see your baby. I think I didn't see my baby for almost 3 hours after they took her out of me. So I recommend u trying natural first then if it doesn't work out u will just probably have to do an emergency like I did. But just think about it. It's your decision. I mean nobody will judge you.

If you can choose at all, go natural. Your body was made for it, and a csection is a major abdominal surgery. I had a csection and didn't get to choose (I have a brain and spinal condition that makes it so I can't push, strain, or bear down, especially that much, without lasting health problems or worse)...but had my doctors, neurologists, and the like let me choose, I would have gone natural. The recovery is faster, the risks for infection are way less, and it's just all around easier on the body.

I wanted to do all natural, wound up having to get induced so I had the epidural, but by 2 weeks post partum i was out and driving... when you have a c section it takes 6 weeks until you're allowed to even drive.

My sister in law just had her 4th c section and she's now not allowed to have any more children because her uterus ruptured when she went into early labor and she had so much scar tissue attached to her bladder that it had to be surgically removed.

Even though i dont want 4 more kids, i'm sticking to vaginal births if at all possible!

I wanted to have an elective csection!  Thankfully my dr was fine with it. However, DD was breeched and I had to have one regardless. I got out of the hospital in 2 days. Didn't push my limits but I was walking the afternoon of my csection and felt great.  I'm allergic to dilaudid so I had a morphine drip but ended up not using it. Took a Tylenol a couple of times and that was it.  However, if you want more than 3 kids my dr does not suggest a csection on your first for sure!! Good luck!
