Birth control Shot?

Hey guys, can u tell me the pros and cons of the birth control shot? I can handle the needle. I just want to know if I should try it.

I'm on the shot for only one round before I switch to Nexplanon. They use the same main hormone but somehow Nexplanon has way less issues from what I've heard because it doesn't lower your estrogen levels. I'd like to start off saying depo has worked for many women and some have very few side effects. It can stop their periods, reduce period symptoms all together, and of course helps prevent pregnancy.
On the other hand, the main issues I have with the shot are these:
Like I said before, it lowers your estrogen levels which can create a whole slew of problems/issues of varied severities.
The shot can reduce bone density and while it may come back after stopping it won't be at the full amount it was before.
It can take up to two years to reach your original level of fertility and for some it can make them infertile. And this can occur just from ONE shot.
So for me it definitely isn't a good long term option since bone issues are common in my family and I don't want to put myself behind at such a young age.
Talk to your doctor about it for sure and all your other options as well. Best of luck 💕

The shot was my worst mistake!! It has been HORRIBLE!!! Ive been bleeding for 5 weeks straight!! I've never really cramped on my period but this shot made me lay in bed and cry all day for two weeks cause I was cramping so bad!! It's made me nauseous the whole time I've been on it and it's made me think I was pregnant!! I know all birth control effects people differently but I don't reccomend this one!! Even for my worst enemy! Plus I've herd of you stay on it to long it can make you unfertal!! Ohh and P.S. It could be 4-12 months or more til your period returns to normal after stopping the shot. I wouldn't wish the pain it's gave me on my WORST enemy!!

I don't do birth control but I learned all about it in middle school - high school. I think the best is taking pills. Shots never really been much of a help. Patches, NEVER do those.
