Adopting?

My cousin lost her daughter and she went into the court system last Friday. (She's on drugs extremely bad.) the baby is only about 6 months old but she was born three months early, and is healthy now but im worried. 
I'm going to try to get custody over her, and eventually adopt her. But my boyfriend doesn't like that because he wants us to have kids of our own.. But I just can't let her go into the system and go through what I've seen so many others go through.. I don't know how to make everyone happy right now, and if I know him like I know him, he'd come around. But I also understand where he's coming from.. But my hearts telling me what to do.

She's family and you obviously care about her a great deal, do what you feel is right! If you feel and know that you can provide for her and give her all the love she needs, then go for it.

Just a word of advice....this child is your family, your boyfriend is not...so until y'all are married you need to do what you feel is right for you & the child. If he really supports you like he should then you'll be okay with whatever your decision is. Taking your cousin in & hopefully adopting doesn't mean you can't have your own children.

Do it. My older sister did the same thing with her husbands nephew. Best decision they ever made. It was so much easier on the child and he thrives with them.

He left last night after I called the social worker and told her I was gonna take Emma. It's his loss & im gonna do all that I can to take care of this little girl because she needs all the love she can get right now.

If you adopt that baby, you can obviously still have your own children. Of course if he really is committed to you he will realise how important it is to you and that the baby is family to you, so therefore it's his family too

And I must say I have never been happier. He's still gone but it's not like I need him anyways if he wants to be inconsiderate like he is, then he can stay away. 
She's very far behind on everything. And im gonna be working hard to catch her up to where she's supposed to be.

You can still have your own if you adopt. Just realize what you are getting yourself into. My son was born 3 months early. He had very few issues while in the NICU but there are tons of doctors appointments and they are usually behind and need PT. that babies issues may be compounded due to drug use from the mom. My son gets sick so easy because his lungs were not fully formed. But if you want to then do it. I wouldn't let a boyfriend dictat something like that. He isn't even your husband

If you know in your heart that this is the right thing to do, then I would try to get custody of her. Your boyfriend will be there for you no matter what if he's genuinely committed to the relationship. You are so selfless for doing this and you will be blessed. The best of luck to you. I'm sure you would love the baby as your own, and you can always try to  have biological children yourself. Just know your cousin might try to harass you to see the baby and it could cause drama.
