Do you pack your SO's lunch?

I'm a stay-at-home mom and my fiancée provides a very comfortable lifestyle. Our 16 month old son has a few classes during the week, we go to the gym, grocery shop, then the regular household duties. I'm always busy and now that I'm pregnant again, usually exhausted.

Lately my fiancée has been asking for me to iron his work clothes. I buy snacks and treats for him to take to work but he never does. They have a cafeteria there but it isn't always aligned with our dietary restrictions. He also doesn't eat at home unless I make his plate.

What services do you provide your SO as a stay-at-home mom? Do you feel it's your role to do extra duties because you no longer work outside the home?

I work, and I pack my husbands lunch about 80% of the time, and even breakfast sometimes, too. Granted I only work about 6 days out of the month, but I bring in a very significant contribution. (About 1/2 of what he makes with a doctorate degree working 40hr per wk) I do his laundry, but he puts it away. I still believe in taking care of your man, however, if it is ever "expected" or I feel it isn't appreciated, I won't do it anymore.

I'm a stay at home mom. I pack my husband's lunch the night before so I don't have to wake up at 4:30 am with him. Lol. Because my hubby works over 13 hrs a day 6 days a week his only chore is throwing away trash. But since I got pregnant he has stepped up and will do chores around the house without me asking or will bring me snacks in bed while we watch tv late night.

I feel like an awful wife reading all these. My husband does the cooking because I hate it so much. I work fewer hours than he does but we still split the house work evenly. He also does most of the grocery shopping. But I do a majority of the cleaning and taking care of the pets. But, that seems to work for us.

You'll have to discuss that with your fiancée. Having clear roles is important in any relationship. You both need to come into mutual agreement with mutual respect. I work 9 hrs a week from home, but I consider myself a stay at home mom. My husband and I both naturally falling into the traditional husband and wife roles. I like taking care of the house and he likes working and providing the bulk of the income. As a stay at home mom, it's my job to take care of the home functions so my husband can focus on his other work. I am not being oppressed. My husband would never expect me to do anything that would overwhelm or disrespect me. If he needs his clothes to be ironed, I try to do it because I'm better at ironing. ;-) If you feel overwhelmed, talk about dry cleaning options or other solutions that work for both of you. If he doesn't respond well to you not wanting not to iron, for example, he may have some deeper issues. That's a whole other answer.

I am a stay at home mom. I cook, clean, take care of our three year old all day and I'm 20 weeks. My husband is understanding (mist of the time) and has stepped up without me asking since I've been pregnant. I have spoiled him with making his plate for the last 4/5 years we have been together and I make his lunch sometimes. He takes out the trash, cleans the litter box, and helps with the dishes because he knows it makes me sick. Before I was pregnant he took out the trash, did the litter box and the lawn. And then he also does other odds and ends when I ask him to.  He rarely asks me to do anything.  I just know he does expect me to do mist of the house work since he is active duty still and works all day.  When we were dual military we would do all the housework together, but now it is my only responsibility to take care if the house and the kid.  I also consider it mine to take care of him as much as he lets me.

I take care of my SO as well as he will be the main provider for our family and he works long hard hours. I try to make him lunch most days and I do all the house work/laundry. I also make sure he has dinner ready when he gets home at night. I have no problem taking care of him, I was raised in a family where my father was/is a farmer and the same was done for him.

I work from home & he's in Construction w/ the Gas Company. We are up either at 4 AM or 5AM every morning. I go downstairs to make breakfast, get his lunch together, & coffee. I do this Monday - Friday unless I'm feeling super sick or something.

Not a super big deal for me because then I'll go upstairs and go back to sleep 😊
