Upgrade ring?

Question

To the ladies who have a different ring than the one you originally started with:
Do you feel guilty for having an upgrade? 
Do you love the upgrade even more? 
Are you glad you have the upgrade?
Hubby has been wanting to get me a bigger ring for years & I keep toying with it because I'm not sure how I'll feel after. If I did get another, I would always want to wear my original, on my right hand.

If you love your ring and still plan on wearing it, why get another? Why not put that money into an awesome getaway, or something else you both can enjoy. If my husband wanted to upgrade, I'd just tell him no.

There's nothing for you to feel guilty over. You're not changing husbands, just your ring. I look at it like this. If it's something your husband wants to do for you, after you ensure him that you love your current ring and would be happy to keep it, you should get the upgrade. Oftentimes when he buys the first ring, he may not have gotten you the one he felt he wanted you to have. He may even feel it's not the one you "deserved", but it was what he could afford. Our husbands want to give us the best they can, especially if you have the kind of man that's a "provider".  This is what I think is going on with your husband. He wants more for his wife (you) and there's nothing wrong that. Just take your time and find a ring you love and don't feel bad.

After 35ish years of marriage, my dad surprised my mom with a larger diamond (still not "large" but bigger than the tiny one from when they got married right after college) in her original wedding band, & he got the original diamond set in a beautiful necklace. I thought that was a sweet way to do it!

How about having the ring itself updated?  That way you can have the best of both worlds - the original ring your husband gave you and more bling.

I didn't have much of a choice with mine- the diamond fell out shortly after I got the ring cleaned.  The ring is the same,  but I had to get a new stone.  I sometimes feel bad about the original stone, and wish I had found it,  but honestly,  I don't think about it much. I don't think I'd want the whole ring replaced, though.  He picked it out just for me..
