Transitioning from breast milk to all formula
Our daughter has had both breast milk and formula (honest or similac) since birth and is healthy, social, meeting all her developmental markers. I went into shock after my caesarian section and couldn't feed her or even hold her right away (heartbreaking!), so the nurses supplemented with formula. During my maternity leave she breastfed almost exclusively except for when my nipples were too sore and needed relief. I pumped a lot during my leave and had a pretty good store of milk when I went back to work, but my LO went through it quickly. I've been back at work about four months now, and even though I've been pumping several times a day, taking supplements, hydrating, etc my supply has gone down to nearly nothing. Each month we've been giving her less breast milk and more formula. My LO is 6 months and I'm sad to give up breast feeding when I stop producing - I'm afraid it'll be soon. I'm barely getting an ounce each time I pump. :( But I'm very grateful that we've had good luck with formula and bottle feeding so far, so I know she won't go hungry. Any other moms go through this transition and have tips for coping with it?
