How do I overcome a failed marriage?

I'm 22 years old currently legally married to a 23year old man who is in the US army. He was mentally and emotionally abusive all while I was pregnant (I'm now 21 weeks along) and I had no other choice but to leave him and fly home to the UK. I gave him chances time and time again and he would always talk down to me and make me feel like I'm not good enough.

Now that I'm home I am stress free of his behaviour and blocked contact with him completely to help the healing process . I am going to obviously file for divorce but now I know he will  refuse to give me money even though he gets paid double for it and the wages he gets which is meant to cover me living all goes towards his own house.

Some days I'm alright and unphased by what happened but I can't stop thinking about or get over how I was treated, it still breaks my heart.

What should I do?

Talk to his CO or someone in the military with some Connection to him. He doesn't deserve extra $ if he's
Not helping support his child, and they'll straighten out his behavior/ attitude too.

There is info on the US state department's website regarding divorce abroad. I recommend familiarizing yourself with the laws. From my brief Google search it does seem possible to file for a divorce abroad, but it would be much easier if you were still in the US. Because you have a child involved, it is only going to be more difficult. You may have to go in front of a judge if you are seeking child support. I would look all of this up online, or find a lawyer in the US who is willing to represent you abroad. The easier option of course would be for you to move back to the US during this process. It may be worth it to get in contact with a friend who will let you stay with them or rent/sublease a place for a short period of time.

The US military doesn't put up with that shit. If you contact the military since you're still legally married, they will stick it to him through the divorce. Sounds like he's a cheater too, which is highly frowned upon. They will do everything they can to help support you. His chain of command will make it so that he pays you child support, or at least that's how it works in the states. I'm not sure how it works since you are from the UK, but I would imagine they will still help you in some way. And if he doesn't provide for the child, he has no right to claim your child on his taxes.

If you have a court order the UK and US have enforcement agreements. Each country is different how you enroll some is automatic and some you have to enroll but once you do they take care of it from suspending a passport or granising his wage
