Breast feeding and bottle feeding. My experience
I'm a FTM to my 10 week old little girl and I wanted to share my feeding experiences with you all.
When I first had her breast feeding was pushed as the best option for my baby. If I couldn't or didn't want to breast feed then bottle is the way to go. I was open to trying breast but wasn't going to get hung up on it if I couldn't.
So the first day and night I was breast feeding but it was honestly hell as she was using me as a dummy and was on the boob constantly. that was Sunday (from 2am). Monday morning I spoke to my partner and decided to bottle feed as it was too stressful breast feeding and I was shattered.
We got a great night sleep Monday night as we were home and when I woke up Tues I realised that I only gave up because I was tired.
I also decided at that point to give her a dummy as we were bottle feeding I didn't see it as a problem.
So I was then kicking myself that I didn't give it a chance but decided to combination feed.
So from birth she went from boob to bottle and then back to boob but also kept 1 bottle feed at night and the dummies.
To all the mums who aren't sure I would highly recommend this as an option. she sleeps better at night as the formula fills her up more and has no problem going between them. It gives me a break and also means my partner can have that bonding time with her and a bottle.
My sister in law however exclusively breastfed till 5 weeks and is still having problems with sleep and is now fighting to get her on to bottles as she is so used to breast feeding.
Nipple confusion is a load of rubbish and my daughter is proof of that
My point is........don't think you are limited to one or the other
