Can you start labor without losing plug?!?!

I've been having severe tightening in my stomach for the past 4 days...dr. said im having painless contractions 4 min apart and my cervix is mushy but no dilation yet...anyone experienced something similar?! Can I be close without losing mucous plug yet?!

I don't know if you're in labor or not but you can go into labor without losing your plug. I've spoken to multiple women who went into labor without losing it and even without their water breaking.

Hey guess what just happened? I was in early labor for three or four days, then i lost my mucus plug yesterday morning and had my baby that night! And my midwife had to pop my waters for me too. It never falls in any specific order!

Yes some women's mucus plug doesn't come out until their water breaks... which doesn't always happen before your trip to L&D.

My water broke and lost my plug at the same time, no contractions till 4hrs after my water broke, had my son 11 hrs later.

I never lost my mucus plug with all my pregnancies!! One I was induced, 2 my water broke and contractions Right away,  this pregnancy nothing and I'm 39.2 weeks

Agreed, you totally can! My water didn't even break until AFTER my daughter came out, and then the gush of water came. Her head had descended and plugged it so it couldn't come out 😂 I never saw my mucus plug with my first, but this pregnancy I started losing mine yesterday. It's not even a sure sign of labor anyway, as your mucus plug can regenerate.
