Nursing school with a baby?

Hello! Ok, so I  have a four month old at home, I'm single, and a school teacher....but I hate my job, I can't stand it anymore with the politics, and the low pay. I'm to the point where I cry driving to work daily.

I want to go to nursing school, problem is that I'm working to support my daughter. My job pays the bills food car etc. luckily my parents watch her while I go to work so I don't need to worry about extreme day care costs. Moving back home isn't an option, and I have about a year left on my lease and I can't afford to break it.

Have any of you quit your jobs to go to nursing school (or any type of school) and somehow still managed? I'm thinking to maybe get a night job? Please any information on how I can go back to school as a (technically) single mother would be greatly appreciated. Any grants or anything that you may know of?

Please help me, I've been sick to my stomach since yesterday thinking about having to go back to my classroom on Tuesday.

EDIT: there are no night nursing programs around my area or that's what I would do...so I have to quit my job in order to do the program :/

I think working full time while in nursing school would be extremely difficult. I'm Canadian and the program here is really intense and takes up most of your time. I worked as a care aid casually throughout my program but nowhere near full time. Plus some of our clinical shifts were evenings/weekends/nights and even some shifts were very last minute making it hard to schedule work around them. If you have a child at home and are doing nursing school I don't think it's realistic to work full time. Nursing school is a full time job on its own.

When I went to nursing school,  I went to school full time, worked full time,  had a 2 year old, and was pregnant with my son. I made it. If you're determined enough, you'll be able to get through it.

I previously tried to comment but it had some rantness in it so I discarded it so I'm going to try again and keep this short and simple. Most of the people I know who are in grad school or nursing school live off their loans. That honestly may be your only option if you're not going to work. If you do that, look into loan forgiveness options

I did full time school and worked 36 hours a week. Does your campus offer childcare? The last semester I was hired into the float pool at a local hospital so I could work at my own convenience. My mother also any bank and got her rn and took a leave from work for 3 months to complete it. It's going to be hard but the things we want are often not really obtained. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
