Sumatriptan/Imitrex first trimester?

Question

Any ladies who have used sumatriptan during their first trimester? Anyone with babies that turned out A-OK? I don't see my OB until next week but I'm now two days into a migraine at 6W1D and starting to get desperate! 😬 I have read mixed reviews and research. Thank you!

I'm a little late to respond but for others wondering, I did take imitrex a few times with my first pregnancy (son born May 2017) and am now in my second pregnancy and having the same ethical dilemma. OB says not unless absolutely desperate; neuro cites studies that show it's fine. I'm not a doc, so obviously can't say, but studies of women who took imitrex and happened to be pregnant seem to show that there was no increased risk of birth defect. If you're like me, Tylenol and a coffee can't even begin to alleviate a migraine - the only thing that works is imitrex. And left untreated, a migraine goes on indefinitely, affecting my ability to work or care for my child. Still I try desperately not to take it and also find myself online searching for reassurance that taking it is ok. Would love to hear what others do!

My ob said no to those meds specifically. I too read mixed reviews but for babies sake. I popped a tylenol drank alot of water and suffered through it. Hope you feel better.

I've heard Imetrax is not a good drug to use during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. Talk to your doctor. They gave me a different medication for migraines during pregnancy.
