Is suicide selfish?

My friend and I were debating on. I said Suicide is seen as an escape and usually the person is seen as a burden and thinks that the world would be better off without them so they are thinking of others. But my friend says it is selfish because you are only thinking of your pain not others. So what do you guys think?
