The pill doesn't cause weight gain. Like all other hormonal BC, the side effects include a change in appetite, change in metabolism, and things like fatigue. If you decide to eat more, don't work out, and if your metabolism changes and you don't make the necessary changes then yes you will probably gain weight. But it's how you react to the side effects, not the pill adding weight. That being said, if you're too forgetful to take the pill and want to keep having more predictable "periods" (withdrawal bleeding), I would suggest NuvaRing. You would need to be comfortable with inserting it into your vagina weekly though. If you don't mind more invasive forms, a great option is the Nexplanon implant (don't let them give you Implanon as it is being discontinued). It seems to be not so harsh on the body and doesn't have too many long term effects from extended use. The most effective is an IUD, they make hormonal and non-hormonal ones so it's your choice there. They are one of the more invasive to implant and some doctors are weary of giving them to young women with no kids, but they work great and doctors ultimately can't stop you from getting one. Talk to your doctor about your options as well and do your own research on the forms and brands available to you. Best of luck 💕
Best option??
I've been using the patch as birth control for a while now, but my body has gotten too used to it so it's not effective anymore. I need to switch but I'm not sure what option is best. I really don't want to take the pill because I can't remember to take it every day and it causes weight gain. Can anyone tell me what would be best?
