Castor oil?!!!!

Okay so I haven't had a bowel movement in days and my midwife told me to use castor oil a pregnancy safe laxitive so I googled it to see what it looks like so I know what I'm looking for in the store and I see that it INDUCES LABOR!!?? I'm only 35 weeks so I'm not trying to induce labor is this just a myth? anyone have any experience with it? Halp

I wouldn't do it. Start a good probiotic and take stool softener a to see if you can get a movement. If not then see if you can safely do an enema. Up your fibers, water and fruits and veggies

Cape oil will only induce if your ready.  In my experiance it took a day my first pregnancy two days before my due date. Second pregnancy I was already in labor two weeks early and wanted to clean myself out had him the next morning.  I only take a tsp though. ... trust me. .. it's enough Idk if you even need that much for it to work.  I can't believe some people drink a whole bottle.  I can't even imagine.

Take smooth move tea. My midwife had me drinking it due to severe constipation.  Castor oil can induce labor.

I've suffered with chronic constipation for about 2 years now. I would go literal weeks without any movement. There is a drink in the pharmacy area called magnesium citrate. It's like $1.50. I will warn you, it's gross and when it hits, it's intense. But it works and it works fast. You will be totally cleaned out as it's what they have you drink before a colonoscopy.

Castor oil isn't proven to induce labor. It's just an old wives tale like almost every other induction remedy you'll hear! I would try castor oil as a natural laxative before taking any kind of medication. But definitely try to keep whole grains and fruit in your diet so that it'll help you stay regular.

I can't believe your midwife would tell you to use castor oil!! Try some magnesium supplements first, and if that doesn't work then a stool softener like colace and then try laxatives. Castor oil is sooooo not good!

Eat a bunch of fiber. Go to the store and buy fiber bars. That will loosen everything up and is obviously safe. I have had constipation problems for years

Just add fiber to your diet.
