Wine with dinner?

Question

I'm a breastfeeding mommy who just wants a glass of wine! I've heard red wine is best but does it matter if it's red or white? I personally prefer white but I'll drink red if I have to for the baby's sake.

It does not matter. Just remember your breast milk is like your blood. The alcohol absorbs and the levels disappear. So as long as you do not feel buzzed then it is possible for you to continue feeding your little one

As long as you are sober, your milk is sober. When I have a glass of wine with dinner, I usually only drink half of it and finish the rest after my boy goes down. Partly because before/after dinner time is cluster feeding time so I try to be extra mindful of how much I'm drinking, and partly because I'm so distracted during dinner taking care of my son (he's 10 months) that I just never get around to finishing it. If your baby is asleep and you know you won't have to feed him/her for a few hours, have a couple glasses! Enjoy yourself.

Are you trying to figure what's most beneficial to milk production, or just drinking while breastfeeding in general? But feel free to have whatever alcoholic beverage you want in the meantime, it's fine.

Doesn't matter what kind as long as you let the alcohol filter out. So give it a couple hours per drink. Feed your baby directly before dinner and you should be able to feed again next time they're hungry.

I personally will be staying away from all alcohol as well as caffeine while breastfeeding. To me it's not worth the risk

You could have a shot or vodka if you wanted to.. it really doesn't matter.

But red wine is better for everyone I guess
