I absolutely LOVE my IUD. I got the Paraguard version because I can't do hormone based birth control anymore. I'm not going to lie- the first month was horrible!! I wanted to rip my uterus out and not look back. It had given me cramps that made me want to die. I rarely had cramps before that. Now I've had it for just over 9 months and I forget that I even have it! I just have to remember to check for the strings.

If I had to give a suggestion on either the pill or the IUD I would for sure suggest the IUD if you can get past the first month or two. Your body needs to adjust to the new item.

I had the strings trimmed and my husband has had no complaints.

I have mirena & I've never had a guy tell me he felt it. I recently asked my boyfriend & he said he doesn't ever feel them.

Personally, when I first had it inserted I asked him and he said he felt the bottom part of it (as well as the strings). He said it didn't bother him, but he definitely felt it, it mostly bothered me. It's made it really hard for me to enjoy sex in certain positions. I am actually going to the doctor to get it removed for other reasons. I've had it for 6 months, and I got paragard.

They're not supposed to feel the IUD. When I went to get it checked after he told me he felt it, it was still perfectly in place and my doctor suggested to cut the strings but I didn't want to do that because the shorter the strings, the more intrusive the removal.

It can be i had the mirena and i swear my body rejected it my husband and i both felt the actual plastic part not just the strigs and yes i know the strings can harden and feel like plastic but it wasnt the strings it made our sex life non existent because the pain for both of us was unbearable
