Kids at weddings?

Would you allow children at your wedding? (Or did you when you got married)

I think it's stupid to not permit children at weddings. It's a joyous celebration bringing family and friends together. Are children not family or friends? And I'm not about to pay someone to watch my children so I can go somewhere where part of my family isn't welcome. How can you say no to these faces ?!?!

Kids to me make a wedding celebration. My friend's son was our ring bearer and he walked up between my husband and I during our wedding vows, looked up at us and asked "what ya doin?" My husband cracked up laughing and he needed it at that point. And the kids loved the dance floor all night.

The only children that were allowed at my wedding were the ones in the wedding which included my daughter. We served alcohol so I didn't want kids to attend. My wedding was also at a hotel, so we got an extra hotel room and hired a sitter for the kids midway through the reception when things got too much for them.

Unless the child in question is a hellion then there's no reason to prevent them from celebrating with me.

I don't find it wrong to keep ornery children away from formal events any more than I do adults. No one is entitled to be at your wedding to begin with, as it's a personal day between you and your SO.

I had no kids at mine except my 9 yr old brother. No nephews or neices. I'm ulster Scots and we like a drink or two at weddings its no place for a child plus I don't want any badly disciplined children running about.

At my sisters wedding on the kids that were in the wedding were allowed. There was some family that wasn't immediate family that didn't understand the plus one on the invitation. They wanted to bring all there household. My sister had a evening wedding and didn't want a bunch of children. It was her wedding he choice HER day. I didn't understand people getting so rude and upset.

My 4 year old niece and my husbands first cousins that were 3,4 and 9 at the time were at our wedding. Other than there there were no kids - personally I didn't want to pay the meal for a bunch of kids and I dont think kids need to be surrounded by all the drunk people. My niece had a meltdown at 830 and my grandma took her to the hotel for bed. It's an adult night out and there really isn't a need for a bunch of kids.
