Is this normal?

I knew this guy for about 5-6 years but we were never close. We started talking to each other couple months ago online, he lives in another state. I invited him to NY to chill then I went to his house a month later. In between thAt Time told him I wanted fwb relationship but I get the vibe that he wants more. He would hug me and won'T let me go. 
Basically I been thinking about him from time to time. I'm infatuated with him. 
Is this normal? I don't like being distracted.
